Yosua 2:4
“Tetapi perempuan itu telah membawa dan menyembunyikan kedua orang itu”
Bacaan Alkitab Setahun: Mazmur 139; 2 Korintus 12; 2 Samuel 5-6
Pada tahun 1803, Thomas Jefferson memerintahkan Lewis and Clark untuk memimpin suatu ekspedisi melintasi bagian Amerika yang belum terjelajahi sampai ke Pantai Pasifik. Ekspedisi ini dinamai Corps of Discovery (Satuan Penemuan) sesuai dengan namanya. Ekspedisi itu mendata 300 spesies baru, mengidentifikasi hampir 50 suku Indian, dan menjelajahi medan yang belum pernah disaksikan orang Eropa sebelumnya.
Dalam perjalanan, mereka bergabung dengan seorang pedagang bulu dari Perancis dan istrinya, Sacajawea. Mereka segera menyadari bahwa sang istri berperan sangat penting sebagai pemandu dan penerjemah.
Dalam perjalanan itu, Sacajawea bertemu dengan keluarganya. Kakak laki-lakinya telah menjadi seorang kepala suku, dan ia membantu mereka mendapatkan kuda dan peta daerah Barat yang belum tergambar. Tanpa bantuan tak terduga dari Sacajawea dan saudaranya, ekspedisi itu belum tentu berhasil.
Alkitab menceritakan sebuah ekspedisi yang bisa mendapat pertolongan yang tak terduga. Orang-orang Israel mengirimkan mata-mata memasuki Yerikho, sebuah kota yang berada di tanah yang dijanjikan kepada mereka. Disana, mata-mata Israel tinggal di rumah Rahab, seorang perempuan sundal. Wanita itu setuju untuk menjamin keluar mereka asalkan ia dan keluarganya dilindungi saat kota tersebut diruntuhkan. Para mata-mata ini setuju dengan syarat yang diajukan Rahab.
Singkat cerita, mata-mata Israel berhasil lolos dari Yerikho dan kembali kepada Yosua. Mereka pun menceritakan segala sesuatu yang mereka alami disana kepada Yosua. Saat tiba penghancuran Yerikho, kedua pengintai ini pun menyelamatkan Rahab beserta orang-orang yang ada di dalam rumahnya tepat seperti yang mereka janjikan. Yosua dan bangsa Israel pada akhirnya berhasil memperoleh kemenangan besar seperti yang Allah janjikan kepadanya.
Dari kisah diatas, kita dapat melihat bagaimana Allah memakai Rahab sebagai sumber bantuan untuk menggenapi janji-Nya kepada Yosua dan bangsa Israel. Sebuah pertolongan yang yang manusia se-pintar apapun belum tentu bisa merancangkannya.
Apakah saat ini Anda sedang mengalami suatu tantangan? Ingatlah, Allah dapat memberikan pertolongan dari sumber-sumber yang tak terduga.
Allah yang kita sembah adalah Allah yang penuh kuasa. Dia dapat membuka jalan bagi setiap persoalan kita walaupun sepertinya semua jalan itu telah tertutup

The expedition is named Corps of Discovery (Discovery Unit) in accordance with its name. The expedition was to record 300 new species, identified nearly 50 Indian tribes, and exploring the terrain that has never seen Europeans before.
On the way, they were joined by a French fur trader and his wife, Sacajawea. They soon realize that the wife plays a very important as a guide and translator.
In the trip, Sacajawea met with his family. Her brother has become a chief, and he helped them get a horse and a map of the West region that have not been drawn. Without the help of an unexpected and brother of Sacajawea, the expedition was not necessarily successful.
The Bible tells about an expedition that could receive unexpected help. The people of Israel sent spies into Jericho, a town located on land that was promised to them. There, Israeli spies living in the house of Rahab, a harlot. The woman agreed to ensure their exit as long as he and his family are protected when the city was torn down. The spy was agreed with the proposed terms Rahab.
Long story short, the Israeli spy managed to escape from Jericho and returned to Joshua. They were told everything that they experience there to Joshua. On arrival the destruction of Jericho, the spies are also saved Rahab and the people who are in his house just as they promised. Joshua and the Israelites in the end managed to get such a great victory that God promises to him.
From the story above, we can see how God used Rahab as a source of help to fulfill His promise to Joshua and the Israelites. A rescue of a man as any smart it can not necessarily design.
